Dr. Padraic Sweeny has dedicated over 20 years of service to the Detroit
Medical Center (DMC). In February, 2005, he was named chief, Department of
Emergency Medicine, Detroit Receiving Hospital/University Health Center,
succeeding Brooks Bock, M.D.
Since joining the DMC in 1984, Dr. Sweeny has worked as vice chief, Emergency
Medicine, for Receiving and as the chief of Emergency Medicine for Harper
University Hospital.
Prior to joining the Detroit Medical Center, Dr. Sweeny completed 3 years as
a general medical officer for the United States Public Health Service in
Seattle, Washington.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Gonzaga University in
Spokane, Washington and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of
Washington - Seattle.
Sweeny is a Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow
for the American College of Emergency Physicians. He currently is a Clinical
Associate Professor, Emergency Medicine, Wayne State University School of
Medicine.
