"As a former Nursing Administrator at Detroit Receiving Hospital and JCAHO Surveyor, I would like to thank you and your staff for the excellent nursing and medical care my 92 year old mother received..."
So starts the touching letter written by Mary E. Gilbert-Rease. She was so proud and happy with the treatment that her mother had while recovering from a stroke, she took the time to write a letter to the president of the hospital. Her mother, Lillian Gilbert was admitted and stayed on the geriatric unit (5U) for almost a week. Gilbert depended completely on the staff for her personal care.
"...When I Arrived at the hospital mom was smiling and surrounded by a loving staff who was listening to her and giving her the respect she deserved. She told me how kind everyone had been..." continued Gilbert-Rease.
"...Please thank the staff for providing her with all the dimensions of a safe and caring environment..."
The professionalism, love, and caring her mother received is just the way we do things around here, it's what drives us to be one of the best in the business.
Gilbert-Rease goes on to say, " It was such a wonderful feeling to know one of my most precious loved ones was now being embraced by a loving family who embraced me years ago…. The staff was extremely busy, however they never failed to go the extra mile in making sure my mother's needs were attended too."
Gilbert-Rease continues, "As I retire from the health care profession I am proud to have been a part of Detroit Receiving Hospital's family…"
