Since the year 2000, Detroit Receiving has been the region’s specialty referral center for reconstructive urology and urethral stricture surgery.  With thousands of patients across the country requiring very specific and intricate reconstructive urological surgeries each year, Receiving is poised to meet the needs of these patients in the Midwest by expanding its reconstructive urology program.  To learn more about urethral stricture, click here.

The Center for Urologic Reconstruction is led by Dr. Richard Santucci, Detroit Receiving's chief of urology.  Dr. Santucci, an associate professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine, is one of the few Fellowship-trained reconstructive urologists in the country.  He completed his clinical Fellowship with Dr. Jack McAninch at the University of California—San Francisco, and a basic science Fellowship sponsored by the National Institutes of Health at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California.  Dr. Santucci and his team perform over 60 complex urologic reconstruction surgeries a year.  To learn more about Dr. Richard Santucci, and view selected academic papers, click here.
